Dekowood is an enterprise dedicated to artisan work of recycled wood, turning it into unique decorative pieces to bring comfort and beauty to our spaces.
This little enterprise emerged around January 2015 as an idea of a young entrepreneur and architect eager to start her own business. I've always had a special liking towards wood, however it's beauty and elegance always had a high price in our market, but also to our environment making it not that accessible for most of our people. Within this context a question arises: How can I make this raw material widely accessible without contributing to the destruction of our forests? The immediate answer was the usage of recycled wood, of course!!! There was my solution. Then the second question arises: Where can I get that? In that moment my father took action, he gave me the idea of pallets, wood structures that are made to transport shipment. All the big Enterprises receive and transport their products in these structures, once gathered they are thrown away to warehouses where they deteriorate until completely destroyed. That is why the latest tendency is for the big Enterprises to sell those pallets at very affordable prices.
Having the most difficult part resolved, it was just a matter of will and creativity! I started thinking in what designs and under what line of business I wanted to work my raw material. I decided to start creating decorative pieces such as candle holders, magazine keepers, mirrors, flower holders, key holders, trays, candle sticks and many more. I also had the blessing to find a carpenter from Masaya, Eddie, who has multiple skills within carpentry, he has been teaching me and embarked himself in this journey with me. On 2016, I have an additional member in the Enterprise, a young carpentry apprentice and we are now 6 working hands, three artisans who enjoy bringing unique products with high quality directly from Nicaraguan hands, Pinoleros by Gods grace. From Nicaragua to the world!
All it takes is an idea to start a great journey, thanks for being part of it!
